Agia Paraskevi is located in the inland of Kassandra, surrounded by a pine forest. The settlement Loutra was named after the curative springs, lies five kilometers south of Agia Paraskevi, in front of the sea. The baths are located in the southern edge of Kassandra peninsula, in a magnificent spot, at the top of a hill with a viewto the sea. The sea, the pines, the amazing natural scenery of the area compose a unique picture of beauty.

Curative Water

The temperature of the water is 34,5o C

Characterisation: Hot Cl- Na- Br- HS-B-CO2 hypertonic, slightly radioactive curative water of the municipality of Kassandra.

Therapeutic Indications: For ailments of the bones and joints- muscles: rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, slipped disc, myitis- myalgia, tendonitis, old fractures, cervical syndrome. Skin ailments: seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, eczemas. Urinary and gynecological ailments.

Health thermalism facilities: In the first years, a small hydrotherapy centre with two rooms was created in the location of the springs. In 2000 the new modern building was built. It has two mixed pools, one outdoors and one indoors, and ten individual tubs with curative water at a temperature of 34,5o C. Furthermore, in order to rejuvenate, the facilities have sauna, Turkish bath, douches, jacuzzi (group and individual). The baths function throughout the year, seven days a week. Visitors can find rooms to rent and hotels for their accommodation in the surrounding area.

Depending on the temperature, the curative waters are divided into: cold (the temperature of the water is 20oC maximum), tepid (the temperature is 20 -30oC), hot (the temperature is 30- 38oC) and superheated (the temperature is above 38oC). The curative baths are indicated for:
  • Arthritis
  • Rheumatisms
  • Skin ailments
  • Certain peripheral vasculopathies
The curative bath is done by the immersion of the body in an individual tubs or pool and lasts about 20 minutes. It is advised to be done in the morning and after a completed circle of digestion. A therapy circle usually lasts 2 weeks and includes a bath a day. After the bath, it is suggested the bather relax and stay covered for 20 to 30 minute.
They are based on the application of pressure to the human body, while it is in the curative water. The temperature of the mineral water is between 34 – 37oC. It is indicated for:
  • Post trauma treatments for fractures and injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Lumbago
  • Sciatica
  • Spondyloarthritis e.t.c.
The duration of the massage is 20 minutes and is done on a different group of muscles, depending on the position of the bather.
It is the combination of balneotherapy and physiotherapy in the water. It is indicated for:
  • Rheumatisms
  • Musculoskeletal ailments
The treatment is realised by drinking the prescribed quantity of curative water, in the environment of the appearance of the spring. Mineral water drinking therapy is indicated for:
  •   Dyskinesia of biliary tract and gallbladder
  •   Choleolithiasis
  •   Liver ailments
  •   Biliary tract ailments
In the hydrotherapy or thermalistic centres the duration of the mineral water drinking therapy is 3-4 week, according to the case. Mineral water drinking therapy is done on an empty stomach and the dose of the water is usually measured in glasses (250 ml). Before the treatment begins, the examination of the visitor by the doctor of the hydrotherapy centre is mandatory.
The treatment is based on the conversion of the curative waters into micro droplets and on the use of the gashes that are included in them. Inhalation therapy is indicated for:
  • Ailments of the respiratory system
The techniques of the inhalation therapy are inhalation, nebulisation, aerosol and humag. The inhalation of gashes or steams is aided by special devices. Nebulisation is the conversion of liquid to droplets with the aid of special devices. Aerosol is a treatment technique with compressed steam, while humag is the inhalation of gashes that are released by the curative water with the aid of special techniques.
Thalasso- therapy is a form of health treatment, during which, sea water or also other natural resources are used for mainly therapeutic reasons. It is indicated for:
  • Ailments of the cardiovascular system
  • Ailments of the respiratory system
  • Skin ailments
  • Musculoskeletal ailments
  • Rheumatisms e.t.c.
In recent years, thallaso – therapeutic centres integrated in luxurious hotels, operate in the country. The basic principal of thallaso – therapy is the heating of the sea water until it reaches a temperature of 35 – 37o C. The necessary prerequisite of a thallaso – therapy centre is that the facility is located near the sea and that the water is pumped out from a distance of at least 400 meters from the shore and from a depth of 2, 5 meters. Under no circumstances, is it possible to apply thallaso – therapy in centres that are not located near the sea!
Clay therapy is a form of therapeutic treatment. It is realised with the use of mature therapeutic clay and it is indicated for:
  • Ailments of the musculoskeletal system
  • Gynecological ailments
  • Skin ailments
  • Arthritis
  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis e.t.c.
The application of clay on the human body is whole or partial either with the immersion of the body in it or with local application. The treatment can include 10 to 15 applications, with an in-between break of 1-2 days and its duration is 20 minutes. The temperature of the clay must be around 44oC. The place where clay therapy is applied must fulfill the cleaning and ventilation conditions.
