The Urology Department of St Luke’s hospital is one of the most recognizable surgical urology clinics in Greece. It consists of collaborators of great scientific value and prestige. Scientific project of the Department
In the scientific part, the work of the Department is active with the participation of many of the hospital’s urological partners in medical research and in the publication of scientific works in recognized international conferences and journals.
Pioneer of the Department in Greece
In the hospital, innovative surgical techniques were applied for the first time, with the experience of the Department consequently being the largest nationwide. In the field of robotic surgery for prostate cancer, pioneering techniques are applied throughout Northern Greece, such as Retzius Sparing and SMART prostatectomy.
In December 2019, robotic neuroprotective prostatectomy for prostate cancer with the revolutionary NeuroSAFE technique was performed for the first time nationwide.
In February 2019, the first transurethral enucleation of the prostate using the Holmium Laser (HoLEP), a pioneering method for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, was carried out for the first time nationwide.
