
Dr Vasileios Arion Kapinas
Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Vasileios Arion Kapinas is a highly experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Spine Surgery. Born and raised in Thessaloniki, he graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2004, receiving an honorary scholarship for academic excellence and ethical conduct. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery specialization at the university’s Second Orthopaedic Department in 2011.
Dr. Kapinas holds official subspecialty certification in Spine Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons (UK). He served as a Consultant Spine Surgeon at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, UK, one of the largest spine surgery centers in the country.
His training and clinical experience span internationally recognized institutions across Europe and the United States, including centers in Berlin, Bologna, Barcelona, and Philadelphia. During his medical studies, he also completed clinical rotations at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam and at St Thomas’ Hospital, part of the Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in London.
Dr. Kapinas is actively engaged in academic and clinical teaching. He is an instructor for the “Hellenic Spine Diploma” program and has participated in multicenter research studies, such as those on spinal cord injury management under the auspices of AOSpine. His research has been published in both Greek and international scientific journals, and he serves as a peer reviewer for leading publications such as Scoliosis and Spinal Disorders.
He is a member of several esteemed professional organizations, including Eurospine, AOSpine, the Hellenic Spine Society, and the Hellenic Orthopaedic and Traumatology Association.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kapinas has developed substantial expertise in managing the full spectrum of spinal disorders — from upper cervical spine conditions to complex pathologies of the pelvic ring. His clinical focus includes spinal deformities, particularly idiopathic scoliosis, juvenile kyphosis, and adult spinal deformity.
Currently, he is a member of the Rachis Spine Center in Thessaloniki and a Scientific Associate at the Second Orthopaedic Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
