Since 2004 Dr Zacharakis worked in a paid position as a resident of General Surgery, Hospital Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading of Great Britain, where he specialized in General Surgery and especially in diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid gland and breast.
After completing his specialty, the doctor lived Mrs worked for 7 years in London in Great Britain. Since 2006 he worked as a Senior Registrar in paid position at the St Mary’s Hospital, where he initially specialized in Laparoscopic Surgery and Surgery of the Colon and Rectum (Laparoscopic Fellowship in General & Colorectal Surgery) and then advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Surgery upper GI (Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic & Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery).
In 2007 at the age of 35 years Dr Zacharakis assumed the position of the Surgical Department Director (Consultant in General & Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery) at the St Mary’s Hospital, in the field of General Surgery and Surgery of the Esophagus-Stomach. Since December 2008 he continued to work as Director of Surgery Department (Consultant in General &Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery) at the Hammersmith Hospital and at the internationally recognized University Hepatobiliary-PancreaticClinic.
In 2009 he was elected Assistant Professor and Director of Surgery Department (Senior Lecturer & Consultant in General & Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery) of the University Imperial College London and the St Mary’s Hospital, in the fields of General Surgery and Surgery of the Upper Digestive with a focuson radical surgery esophageal-gastric cancer and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery.
During his work in Great Britain Dr Zacharakis performed over 3,500 open and laparoscopic surgeries of varying severity. Most relate to the Oncology Surgery Esophagus / Stomach, Liver / Biliary / Pancreatic, Colon / Rectum and laparoscopic Surgery and General Surgery of Obesity.
